On the occasion of Milan Design Week 2024, from 14 to 21 April, ASSAB ONE displays the graphic experimentations of the Parisian creative studio Undo-Redo. Three installations create an immersive spatial experience, in a visual vocabulary of vertical and horizontal lines, colors and transparencies. On show an interactive installation that can be activated by the public, two suspended screens that, when crossed by light, reproduce coloured patterns, and a video projection where graphic grids are composed and decomposed in a game of infinite possibilities.
The interactive installation, conceived and produced in collaboration with Atelier Piccolo, recalls through its shape and its movement an offset printing machine. A roll of translucent paper adorned with an interplay of lines, colors, and grids, slides across a backlit surface in the center of the structure. Flanked by transparent plexiglas cylinders it is activated by the viewer by turning a crank.
The two suspended screens -one of which is positioned in front of a large window- are composed of translucent paper sheets revealing through their transparency the interaction of polychrome lines -of various thicknesses- that interplay with daylight to create a combination of graphic overlays on the exhibition space. A colorful spatial system echoing the Japanese tea houses paper walls and the intricate patterns of Scottish tartans.
The video projection highlights the exploration of textures used by Undo-Redo to modulate the space of a graphic composition between texts, forms and images, combined with a selection of recent projects by the studio.
On the walls the aluminum panels used for the offset printing with the coloured horizontal and vertical patterns. Available to be browsed the magazine Un Sedicesimo 70 designed by Undo-Redo and published by Corraini Edizioni, which invites the visitor to experiment with textures and primary colors through the transparency and overlapping of its pages.
